Hello, you’re in the right place.

Check out our Evergrow Gadgets, Guides, and Gatherings.

Evergrow is an educational venture from the therapists at Evergreen Child and Family Therapy. At Evergrow you’ll find a collection of resources for busy families. Many caregivers have questions about parenting but are not in need of therapy. We can help with things like—How do I help my child develop self worth? How do we stay connected with our busy schedules? How do I keep my cool during her tantrums? Visit our FAQ page or explore our site to see all the ways we can support you!

Evergrow Gadgets

Resources for Busy Families

Our gadgets are quick, easy “tools” focused on family activities that increase connection between family members.

Recognizing Feelings

Use this Gadget to help your children identify emotions and build empathy and emotional understanding.

Building Positive Emotions

Looking for the good in a situation can be hard work! Thoughtful questions can help your family look for what is going well and flex their ‘positivity muscle.’

Flexible Thinking

Practice looking at things in a new way and being a flexible thinker. Use this Gadget to begin talking about how to see things from many perspectives.

Mindfulness

Caregivers can model being present with this Gadget designed to help both children and adults slow down and practice being in the moment.

Family Mission Statement

Put into words the values your family holds dear with this Gadget. Think together about what is important to you and write it down as a mission statement.

Family Goal Setting

Guided by your values and mission, set goals for your family. Not only is this a great team project, but this Gadget models for children how to set their own goals to achieve their dreams.

Family Symbol

A creative way to express your family mission and values, the Family Symbol activity guides you through creating a visual representation of your family unit.

Dinner Questions

When you feel stuck in the same ‘question-shrug-question-shrug’ loop after school, use our Dinner Questions to help you ask open-ended questions to get your children talking.

Family Contract

One of our favorite tools for reducing family conflict! This contract sets out expectations of behavior for adults and children and lays out the resulting consequences and privileges.

Developmentally Appropriate Chores

Children as young as 2 can contribute to the maintenance of a household. Use this Gadget to help identify what contributions are developmentally appropriate for your child.

Building a Library for Children’s Books

Consider the questions in this Gadget as you build a meaningful library for your children.

Helpful Parenting Books

For your own reading journey, this Gadget summarizes some books that target specific areas of parenting that might be of interest.

Past Evergrow Gathering: 3 Strategies to Thrive as a Working Parent webinar

You wake up at 6am. You do all of the things you need to do to get out of the house and get
your kiddo to school and you to work. You work feverishly all day long hopefully at a job that brings you some fulfillment. Then, pick up your kid. and go home to figure out dinner. Dinner. Bath. Bedtime. Make lunches. Do some laundry. Clean up a bit. Shower. Maybe watch a show.
Go to sleep to do it all again the next day.

There’s rarely time to reflect or relax, or for respite. Thus is the life of many working parents. How do we find meaning in this jam packed life? How do we prioritize connection to our kids and ourselves? How do we not just survive, and get by, but really thrive?

Join us for real talk and real strategies from therapists/moms/working parents
who first tried to find the answer to these questions for themselves – and now are sharing what they learned with you.

Evergrow Gathering: Parent-Toddler Music Class

Lauren is organizing a parent-toddler music class for families from her neighborhood, featuring Sarah King from Reflections Music Therapy. It’s a chance to bring together parents of young kiddos, to have fun singing songs together, and build community.

Past Evergrow Gathering: Maryland Moms First Motherhood Meeting

We’re parents! We’re committed, caring, creative, crazy busy, know the importance of community, and probably have shared experiences related to school/child care. For all these reasons, Lauren recently joined Motherhood, Moms First’s new, national community of moms committed to driving collective change. And Lauren is co-hosting a meet up to get childcare on the record.

Since we’re in the midst of election season, the goal of this meetup is to discuss and carry out strategies to ensure that every candidate up and down the ballot commits to prioritizing child care if they are elected.
